Hungary's Direct Selling Market Posts $170 Million in 2024 Retail Sales, WFDSA Data Shows
A Central European market of 10.07 million people, Hungary recorded $170 million in annual direct selling retail sales in 2024, according to the WFDSA's 2024 report. More than 324,000 independent sellers are active in the country, where a 9% corporate tax rate and near-universal internet access frame the operating environment.

A mid-tier market with high connectivity
Hungary, a Central European country of 10.07 million inhabitants, generated $170 million in annual direct selling retail sales in 2024, according to the WFDSA's 2024 report. The same report places the country's penetration rate at 0.076%, categorising Hungary as a medium-tier market.
More than 324,000 independent sellers are active in the Hungarian direct selling sector. The domestic backdrop includes a 9% corporate tax rate, a factor cited as making the country attractive to businesses, alongside a digital base of 9.24 million active internet users — 91.8% of the population — and approximately 7.29 million active social media users.
The Hungarian figures sit within a global industry that recorded $163.9 billion in sales in 2024. Worldwide, 104.3 million independent contractual sellers work in the channel, 72.1% of them women.
Eleven companies on the country list
According to a listing compiled by Epixel MLM Software, 11 significant MLM companies operate in Hungary: Amway, Herbalife, Forever Living Products, Nu Skin, Oriflame, Tiens, LR Health & Beauty, Sunrider, NeoLife, Flavon Group and Lavylites.
Two local entities dominate the reported revenue figures. Amway Hungária Marketing Kft. is credited with estimated 2025 revenue of $7,300 million, against $7,400 million in 2024 — a change of -1%. Herbalife Kft. is listed at $5,038 million for 2025 versus $5,000 million in 2024, a 1% increase.
Corporate profiles behind the local operations
Amway was founded in 1959 by Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos and is headquartered in Ada, Michigan, with Michael Nelson as current chief executive. Its portfolio includes the Nutrilite supplement brand, Artistry skincare products and eSpring water treatment systems. The company ranks first on the 2025 DSN Global 100 list.
Herbalife, founded in 1980 by Mark R. Hughes and based in Los Angeles, California, is led by chief executive Stephan Gratziani and placed second on the 2025 DSN Global 100 list.
Forever Living Products was founded in 1978 by Rex Maughan, is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is run by chief executive Gregg Maughan; its core offering is an aloe vera-based product family. Nu Skin, founded in 1984 by Blake Roney, Steven Lund and Sandra Tillotson and based in Provo, Utah, is led by Ryan Napierski and ranks 11th on the 2025 DSN Global 100 list. Oriflame was founded in 1967 by Jonas af Jochnick, Robert af Jochnick and Bengt Hellsten, with Anna Malmhake as current chief executive.
